President’s Message
 |
As the new President and CEO, I am eager to continue the work and further the dreams and goals of those leaders that have come before me.
Over the past 72 years of the chamber's existence, many prior leaders have paved the way for future leaders to come along and carry the torch of African-American business progression and advocacy in Houston. The responsibility is immense.
My prior 11 years in business banking, eight years of entrepreneurialism and co-owning a thriving business, and my passion to play a part in seeing African-American businesses succeed has led to my accepting the call of leadership for HCCC.
Houston has the fourth-largest number of African-American owned businesses of any U.S. city and the most in the State of Texas. Supporting that trend, HCCC is dedicated to helping business owners grow and become more than a small business, but an enterprise. |
We will spark this movement by fulfilling our mission to help African-America business owners secure business opportunities and provide programs that educate, equip and empower the growth and prosperity of their businesses.
As the new President and CEO, I am eager to continue the work and further the dreams and goals of those leaders that have come before me. Please join me in this endeavor.
Specifically, my four-point plan for 2008 is to:
-
Lead a fiscally sound organization.
-
Develop mutually beneficial partnerships with corporations and organizations that are truly committed to making a sustainable difference in the lives of African-American small businesses, youth and community.
-
Create and implement programs which educate, equip and empower African-American businesses.
-
Position HCCC as the go-to Chamber of Commerce for cross-cultural, cross-organizational partnership mobilization leading to positive changes and economic growth in the City of Houston.
Thank you, in advance, for your support.
Jeffrey L. Boney
