Kimberly Williams

Kimberly J. Williams is Chief Administrative Officer-METRO Solutions (CAO) for
the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, Texas (METRO). Williams
serves as part of the management team overseeing implementation of the
METRO Solutions program, a multi-billion dollar initiative.
In development since 2001, METRO Solutions is a comprehensive transit system
plan to help solve the Greater Houston region’s traffic congestion and air quality
problems. The plan calls for major multimodal transit improvements across the
region including a $2 billion program to provide more rapid transit. Phase 2
involves the simultaneous construction of (5) new light rail lines through inner-city
Houston. The result is the expansion of the current system from one 7-mile line
to an additional 30 miles of capacity.

As CAO, Williams oversees the areas of small business, community outreach,
media, stakeholder affairs and agency coordination. The Administration area is
tasked with managing METRO’s community engagement and construction
mitigation program for businesses and residential communities along the light rail
corridors.

Williams began her career in transportation as a legislative aide to then U.S.
Representative Barbara Rose Collins when Mrs. Collins was a member of the
House Public Works and Transportation Committee. Prior to arriving at METRO,
she served as Vice President of External Relations for Texas Southern
University.

Williams is a graduate of Howard University and Wayne State Law School where
she served as Survey Editor of the Wayne Law Review. She is married to
Michael P. Williams, II and has one daughter, MacKenzie.
