Since 1935, HCCC has championed economic and business development in the Houston. We will establish a permanent, concise record of HCCC’s rich history of contributions to the African-American business community.
A history film debut luncheon will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2009.
In view of the Chamber’s rich history and community activism, it is critical that past events and contributions be chronicled in a form that will leave a permanent, literary legacy to Houston citizens from all walks of life regardless of race, creed or color.
Upcoming initiatives are to:
Ø Produce a new 30-minute film focusing on the specific accomplishments of the founders, their role in creating HCCC, and businesses that exist today that have roots in early Chamber development.
Ø Produce a new 30-minute film focusing on the role African-American women have played in business development in Houston. Who were the women business owners in the early days of the Chamber? This documentary also will focus on several prominent women business owners today and their contributions to the community.
