HCCC International Trade Development Program

HCCC’s International Trade Program was established in 2002. The mission is to develop business opportunities abroad for small businesses via trade forums and trade missions.

International trade is a major source of economic revenue for any nation that is considered a world power. Houston is the fourth largest city in the U.S. and is a world-class international city.

With Houston’s solid infrastructure, diverse population, highly skilled workforce and a dynamic international environment, our city is poised for growth in this area.

International trade offers African-American business owners opportunities to establish relationships outside of our borders and catapult their business success and sustainability.

HCCC has led successful trade missions to Trinidad and Tobago, Africa and to China in August 2007. The China trade mission represents the first time an African-American chamber of commerce in the nation has taken a delegation to China with elected officials.

In February 2008, HCCC hosted a Chinese delegation to the U.S.

A multi-faceted international trade development program will be launched in 2008. The program components will include:

  • Collaboration with the Greater Houston Partnership and the Houston International Festival on the International Business Conference on April 18, 2008.

  • Trade missions to Africa and the Caribbean with an opportunity for representatives of corporate sponsors or its designees (i.e., supplier diversity prime or sub-contractor) to participate.
