Carroll G. Robinson is Associate Dean and an Assistant Professor at Texas Southern University’s Barbara Jordan-Mickey Leland School of Public Affairs. He is Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Houston Citizens Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Board of Directors of the Northeast YMCA and Children at Risk and a former At-Large member of the Houston City Council. During his service on the Houston City Council, he was Chairman of the Transportation, Technology and Infrastructure Committee and served on the Board of Directors of the National League of Cities, Houston-Galveston Area Council and was a Vice Chairman of the Houston-Galveston Area Council’s Transportation Policy Council. Robinson is a Life Member of the NAACP and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated, a member of the State Bar of Texas and a former President of the Houston Lawyers Association as well as a former member of the Board of Directors of the State Bar of Texas and National Bar Association.
Prior to his election to the Houston City Council, Robinson served as an Associate Professor at the Thurgood Marshall School of Law. He has also taught Constitutional Law at the South Texas College of Law and served as Chief of Staff and General Counsel to Texas State Senator Rodney Ellis. Robinson has also served as General Counsel to the Texas Democratic Party.
Robinson earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Richard Stockton State College in Pomona, New Jersey and his Juris Doctorate Degree from the National Law Center at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He is married and the father of one child.
